An overdraft occurs when you do not have money in your account to cover a transaction.

What happens if you accidentally bounce an important check? With Overdraft Protection by Linked Accounts from NetBank, your important check doesn’t bounce at all. It’s exactly the peace of mind you need.

Overdraft Protection by Linked Accounts

Link your NetBank checking account to your NetBank savings account; use the balance in the linked account to cover the shortfall of the following transaction types:

  • Checks written on your checking account
  • Automatic bill payments (ACH)

These automated transfers are considered limited transfers and each transfer is counted as one of the six transfers from a savings account allowed per calendar month per federal regulations. Transfers are made for the exact amount to cover the shortfall in Available Funds.

To set up: log in to your account and send us a secure message indicating the last 5 digits of the two account numbers you would like to have linked together.

What information do I need to open a NetBank Checking account?
You will need the following information to complete an online application:
  • Your social security number along with a valid US driver’s license or state-issued identification
  • Your primary contact information, including mailing address, telephone number(s) and email address
  • The details of the account you are transferring money from to open this account – you will be making your initial deposit electronically.
  • If this is a joint account, we will need the above information for each account owner.

How do I fund an account?
An account can be funded in one of the following ways:
  • Wire funds from another institution
  • ACH instructions may be entered into the account application
  • Have your financial institution initiate a transfer of money to our Bank. The BofI Federal Bank ABA/Routing Number is: 122287251
  • With a MoneyPak. MoneyPak can be purchased at thousands of stores nationwide, including major retailers such as Walmart, Walgreens, CVS/pharmacy, Rite Aid, Kmart, Kroger and Meijer. You can add any amount from $20 to $500 onto a MoneyPak at most retailers. You can add up to $1,000 at Walmart. Pick up a MoneyPak from the Prepaid Product Section or Green Dot display and take it to the register. The cashier will collect your cash and load it onto the MoneyPak. Go to www.moneypak.com or call 1-800-GREENDOT to reload your prepaid card. You will need to provide your MoneyPak serial number and debit card number. Once the reload is complete, your money is instantly available for you to use.
When will I receive my new Visa® Debit Card?
Your free Visa® Debit Card and PIN will arrive in the mail within 10 business days after your account is opened.
How do I order checks?
You can order checks through our Online Banking facility:
  • Log into your Online Banking account
  • Click on the Online Services and e-Statements tab
  • Select the account from the drop down menu
  • Click the Enter button
  • Follow the on screen prompts to complete the order

How can I access/manage my money in the NetBank account?
You can access your online bank account, make payments, or move your money in a variety of ways:
  • Use your Visa® Debit card or checks for purchases and payments
  • Pay your bills using our Bill Pay service (monthly fee of $5.00)
  • Get cash from any ATM nationwide (no matter which bank)
  • Access your accounts through our Mobile banking service and use many of the same features as Online Banking;
  • You can transfer money between your NetBank accounts or to/from a bank account at another institution
  • Deposit checks with BofI Federal Bank’s mobile app or scan a check via MyDeposit in Online Banking. Paper checks are not accepted through the mail.
